Alastair Franklin

Alastair is a Cambridge graduate and emigrated to Sydney in 2006 where he earned his Fellowship in small animal surgery and built a very successful career. His surgery expertise saw him treating a plethora of exotic animals such as koalas, possums and goannas alongside the more traditional family pets. Returning to Scotland after 17 years in Australia, Alastair joined VSS in 2023 to be part of the outstanding team and deliver advanced surgical care to our patients from across Scotland and northern England, while helping to develop the soft tissue service and procedures offered.

Outside of work, Alastair enjoys hill walking, camping, sailing, spending time with his family and walking with their dog, Josie, who came with them from Australia.
