Mat Richardson

Mat joined Veterinary Specialists Scotland in August 2025 as Hospital Director, bringing with him extensive leadership experience across the commercial, government, and charity sectors.

He began his career with Linnaeus in 2021, initially supporting the teams at Davies Veterinary Specialists and Southfields Veterinary Specialists, before going on to lead Northwest Veterinary Specialists, DWR Veterinary Specialists, and now, VSS.

With a deep passion for people, Mat is committed to fostering a positive environment where you can feel fully supported by our team. His focus is on ensuring that VSS is equipped to offer the highest standards of care for the patients and owners that need us.

Throughout his career, Mat has led projects across all seven continents, often in challenging social, political, and environmental conditions. One constant, however, has been the exceptional people he’s worked alongside. Mat holds an MSc in International Development from the University of Edinburgh, and has a passion for music, photography, and anthropology.
