BSc (Hons)

Radiographer

Richard qualified as a radiographer in 2003. After graduating he worked in human healthcare for seven years within the NHS and then for a further three years in a private diagnostic imaging department.

In 2012 Richard moved into veterinary radiography joining a large diagnostic imaging company, initially as a cross sectional radiographer performing both CT and MRI scans throughout the UK and Ireland. This role then led to him becoming CT clinical lead within that organisation. This was a role Richard very much enjoyed; he took on several responsibilities including training and CPD while maintaining his clinical skills.

After 5 years, he joined the diagnostic imaging team at The Animal Health Trust in Newmarket, primarily as a locum radiographer within their CT department. This became a more permanent role encompassing all aspects of imaging including CT, MRI and x-ray along with radiation protection. Richard spent 3 wonderful years at the Animal Health Trust until its closure in 2020.

A brief spell back into human diagnostic imaging followed as CT clinical lead and senior radiographer for private healthcare providers.

Richard joined the team at VSS as a diagnostic radiographer in October 2021. He enjoys all aspects of radiography but particularly cross sectional imaging.

With two Parson terriers and five horses to keep him busy in his spare time, he’s also an avid football fan.
