VSS has appointed a renowned emergency and critical care specialist to its team

Tobias Grave’s arrival heralds a new chapter at the state-of-the-art facility and will further enhance its intensive care treatment.

Tobias, an American, European and RCVS-Recognised Veterinary Specialist in Emergency and Critical Care, studied veterinary medicine at Hanover University in Germany, graduating in 1999, before moving to the UK in 2002 and embarking on what has become an illustrious career in emergency veterinary care with roles in cities including London, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Tobias, who has lectured worldwide and published various veterinary articles in English and German, sees his experience supporting other disciplines at VSS, whilst also developing the centre’s ECC service to help it offer more support for emergency cases.

Tobias, who is keen to pass on his knowledge and experience by teaching interns and nurses within intensive care, said: “I’m pleased to have joined the highly regarded and knowledgeable referral team at Veterinary Specialists Scotland.

“My aim is to provide additional support to the current team, further enhancing our critical in-patient and client care, whilst also being able to offer more tailored emergency assistance to our referring veterinary surgeons.”

Sam Woods, Clinical Director at VetrSS, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Tobias to Veterinary Specialists Scotland as we continue to invest in highly-skilled professionals.

“His extensive experience and expertise is a valuable addition to our wide range of specialist-led services and will enhance the high level of care we can offer emergency and critical care patients.”

Outside of work, Tobias is a keen amateur photographer, especially of wildlife and landscape scenes.
